Want to remodel your bathroom without having to break the bank?
Of all of the rooms in your home, remodeling the bathroom can make a huge difference in your quality of life, and it’s also a great way to add value to your home. However, no one would ever claim that remodeling the bathroom is cheap. In fact, out of all of the typical home renovations, remodeling the bathroom can be on the pricier end of the spectrum. But, there’s good news! There are lots of ways to save more on your bathroom renovation, and in our last blog, we went over a few of them. Keep reading to learn more expert tips for saving more on your bathroom remodeling project in Northern Virginia:
#5. Replace the toilet seat and lid instead of the whole toilet.
The toilet is one of the main focal points of any bathroom, and if your toilet is looking old and grungy, replacing it can make a huge difference in how your bathroom looks. However, if you’re on a budget, you might be surprised to learn that replacing just the toilet lid and seat, rather than the entire toilet, can make almost just as big of a difference. However, keep in mind that if your toilet is old and inefficient, you may save more in the long run if you decide to replace your toilet with a low-flow model.
#6. Don’t forget to paint.
When you’re on a budget, painting is one of the best ways to reinvent your space without spending a lot of money. And, unlike many bathroom remodeling projects that may be necessary, painting is something you can do yourself. Opting to paint your bathroom on your own could help you save up to $1,000 on your renovation, depending on how big of a space it is.
#7. Choose more affordable alternatives.
Tile is, hands down, the most popular choice for bathrooms, and it’s used on both floors and the walls. Tile is attractive, stylish and stands up exceedingly well to water damage, but the big downside to choosing tile is that it’s pricey, especially if you choose a high-end option. Instead of choosing high-end tile, consider vinyl plank flooring, batten or reclaimed wood. Keep in mind that wood is higher maintenance but it provides a warmer atmosphere.
#8. Prioritize small projects.
Most bathroom renovations consist of many different smaller projects, like redoing the floor, replacing the lighting, etc. Just because you’re on a budget, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t get everything done that you want to, but it may mean that it will take a little longer. Take a minute to put together a list of all of the projects you want to complete, and then prioritize them by order of importance.
